RGS Celebrates "75 Years of Excellence in Education"

During this unique two hour open house we will be flashing back to 1936. In the spirit of commemorating all that has made RGS unique and special-the small school, the engaged parents, the dedicated professionals, and the long standing tradition of supportive relationships between the community and the school-we are celebrating our 75th Anniversary by observing the many events and people that made 1936 so special and then applauding all the changes that have happened in the years since.
Date: Thursday, February 23, 2012
Time: 4:00-6:00 pm
Location: RGS Gymnasium
We look forward to seeing many of you there. We encourage all Rollinsford resi-dents to join us for this historic milestone.
There will be light refreshments (think school snack 1936).

Yarnbombing

Yarnbombing is a type of street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted cloth rather than paint or chalk. While yarn installations may last for years, they are considered non-permanent, and, unlike graffiti, can be easily removed if necessary. While other forms of street art may be expressive, decorative, provide commentary, or even vandalism, yarn bombing was initially and almost exclusively about reclaiming and personalizing sterile or cold public places. Graffiti knitting has developed into a worldwide phenomenon; each group with its own message and significance.

THE PROJECT:
International Yarnbombing Day is June 11.  Our mission is to make enough knitted and crocheted squares and rectangles of any dimension, by as many different people as possible, to Yarnbomb a tree on our playground! OUR YARNBOMBING will signify Rollinsford Grade School’s commitment to community and a celebration of our diversity.  Most importantly it will provide an experience in cooperation and FUN for all of Rollinsford.  RGS annex students are asking you to create and participate! You may donate your contribution at the school, or at the Rollinsford Public Library.  Contact Becky Wright 742-2351 at RGS, or Tamara Niedzolkowski 516-2665 at the RPL for more information!
