National Library Week!

While these unprecedented times mean that our library is closed during this annual celebration of all things library, we hope that patrons know that the library is still here to assist patrons in any way in can! Patrons can call or email the library with questions or concerns: a library staff member will get back to you as soon as possible with help!

We hope patrons are taking advantage of the NH State Library’s Overdrive service to download audio and ebooks, but there are other resources that offer free material as well:

  • Project Gutenburg : Project Gutenburg is a library of over 60,000 free eBooks. Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. You will find the world's great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired. Thousands of volunteers digitized and diligently proofread the eBooks, for enjoyment and education.

  • Read.gov: The Library of Congress is great resource for classic works of literature helpfully grouped by age group.

  • LibriVox: LibriVox has a catalog of FREE audio books read by volunteers from around the world. Discover something totally new and unexpected in this unusual catalog!

  • Smashwords: The Smashwords catalog provides an opportunity to discover new voices in all categories and genres of the written word and over 70,000 of Smashwords books are priced at FREE! (You must register and set up an account to access Smashmouth’s titles, some of which you must pay to access.)

During this time of self-isolation, we here at the library want you to know we are still here for YOU! And while we can’t see you in person, we hope that you are bringing the library home. Happy National Library Week everyone!
