RPL News & Updates

. . .

The RPL is excited to announce that we will be re-opening to the public, with modified hours and new safety measures, on Monday, June 22nd, 2020!

Library re-opening guidelines and policies

In order to ensure the health and well-being of both library patrons and staff, the RPL Board of Trustees have adopted the following guidelines and policies as we re-open the library:

  • Any patrons who show any known signs of infection, such as fever, loss of smell or taste, body aches or chills; think they may be sick; or think they may have been exposed to the virus are asked to voluntarily not enter the library.

  • All patrons over the age of two (2) entering the library must wear a mask unless physically unable to do so. The library will have a limited supply of disposable masks for patrons who do not have their own. Any patron not wearing a mask will be asked to leave the library.

  • Patrons are asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering the library. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance to the library.

  • Patrons are asked to observe the recommended six (6) foot social distancing guidelines while in the library.

  • All patrons under the age of ten (10) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times while in the library.

  • Materials that have been handled by patrons while in the library, but not checked out should be placed in the bins provided within the library to be quarantined as per our quarantine protocol.

  • Occupancy in the library is limited to three (3) patrons or one family group of no more than five (5) individuals at any one time. If the library is at capacity, patrons waiting to enter the library are asked to not wait in the hallway.

  • The library is strongly encouraging patrons to plan on spending no more than fifteen (15) minutes in the library per visit.

Additionally, the library will be taking the following precautions:

  • Library staff will be required to wear masks in the library and have access to both hand sanitizer as well as disinfectant soap and hot water in the hallway bathroom.

  • Following current CDC and ALA guidelines, materials returned to the library, as well as materials handled but not checked out by patrons, will be quarantined for seventy-two (72) hours prior to being checked back in and re-shelved.

  • Staff will thoroughly wipe down all common surfaces at the start of the library’s open hours, periodically throughout time the library is open for the day and before closing the library for the day.

temporary hours of operation

Our hours of operation for the week of June 22nd to June 28th will be as follows:
Monday: 9-11
Tuesday 5-7
Wednesday 12-2
Thursday 11-1
Sunday 12-2

At this time, not all of the library’s services will be available

Safety is our top priority in re-opening the library. To that end, we are not able to offer the following services at this time:

  • Computer stations (We urge patrons to continue to use the library’s WiFi from the safety of the vehicles in the library’s parking lot.)

  • Meeting Rooms and the Community Room

  • On-site Library Programming, including Community Yoga

We hope to be able to offer patrons these services again as soon as we are able! You can view the library’s Staged Re-opening Plan by clicking here.

We look forward to seeing you all again in the library!

We appreciate that some of the changes may takes some getting used to but are certain that our beloved patrons would agree: we are all in this together!

See you at the library!
